Families who could use some help this weekend can pick up free groceries and clothing from Dream Center Dallas on Saturday, Oct. 10.

The faith-based nonprofit is holding a grocery drive-thru and clothing giveaway from noon to 2 p.m. at its home at 1900 S. Ewing Ave. in Dallas. Groceries will be given out through the drive-thru, and people who walk up can get clothing. Everything is free and will be handed out while supplies last.

The giveaway is part of the organization's "Adopt a Block" program, which serves nearby neighborhoods through outreach, cleanups and handing out basic supplies. In a social media post announcing the event, Dream Center Dallas wrote, "We're here to love our neighbors and meet practical needs."

Neighbors who want to help can volunteer. The organization needs people to hand out groceries, load cars and help families during Saturday's event.

Dream Center Dallas was founded in 2020 and works out of the historic Gospel Lighthouse Church building. Its GuideStar profile says its mission is to connect people to a community of support by offering free resources and services. Those services address both immediate and long-term needs, including hunger, homelessness and poverty. The profile also describes a monthly grocery drive-thru that offers a hot meal, fresh produce, groceries and household items, plus a line for anyone who wants prayer or needs specific items for their family.
