Dallas Foundation awards nearly $2.7 million to 97 Dallas County nonprofits
Nearly 100 nonprofits serving Dallas County are getting new support from The Dallas Foundation, which has awarded 97 grants totaling nearly $2.7 million in its 2026 Summer Grant Cycle.
The grants cover four areas: family economic stability, healthcare access, parks and recreation, and mental and emotional health. The foundation announced the grants on Oct. 5. "Behind these grants are neighbors working toward greater stability and nonprofits helping make that possible," said Vickie Allen, the foundation's chief impact officer. "Thanks to our donors' generosity, these grants will help more of our neighbors put food on the table, get the care they need, and access welcoming places to gather and play."
Family economic stability got the largest share. Sixty-nine nonprofits received almost $1.8 million for food, housing, education, workforce training and related services. Recipients include North Texas Food Bank, Catch Up & Read and Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity. Seventeen nonprofits received $495,500 for medical, dental, vision and other care, including Scottish Rite for Children, Prism Health North Texas and The Agape Clinic. Eight more received $237,000 for parks, trails and public green spaces. That group includes Texas Trees Foundation, Fair Park First and Southern Gateway Public Green Foundation.
The money is reaching Oak Cliff too. Several neighborhood organizations received grants, including the Stevens Park Estates Neighborhood Association.
This summer's round is larger than last year's, when the foundation gave 80 grants totaling $2.5 million. With the $992,200 it awarded to 41 nonprofits this spring, the foundation has given nearly $3.7 million in 2026. Founded in 1929, The Dallas Foundation was the first community foundation in Texas.
