Cedar Hill Collegiate freshman turns childhood lemonade stand into festival favorite

Cedar Hill Collegiate freshman turns childhood lemonade stand into festival favorite
Cameron Harris, 14, started selling lemonade in front of her home. Now Harris Lemonade and Popcorn draws regulars at local festivals and Cedar Hill football games.

When Cameron Harris was younger, she asked her parents if she could start a lemonade stand. That small idea has since grown into a real business in Cedar Hill: Harris Lemonade and Popcorn.

According to Cedar Hill ISD, the Collegiate High School freshman started out selling in front of her home. Now her stand is something people look forward to at local festivals and even at school football games. Cameron has been in the district's Collegiate Pathway since Pre-K in the 2017-2018 school year, and by second grade she was already coming up with new lemonade flavors.

The business grew from there. Her parents got vendor permits so she could sell at local festivals. The pandemic put things on hold in 2020, but the stand came back. Now 14, Cameron has kept looking for ways to freshen up the business, including adding popcorn to the menu.

Her family pitches in, too. Cameron plays clarinet in the marching band and also plays volleyball. At home football games, her family often runs the lemonade and popcorn stand for her while she performs on the field.

It's a hometown example of a young entrepreneur sticking with an idea, adjusting after setbacks, and getting her family and community behind her. The next time you're at a Cedar Hill festival or a home game, keep an eye out for Harris Lemonade and Popcorn.
